Majesty the Gyalyum Sangay Choden Wangchuck graciously commenced the High-Level Advocacy Program, beginning in Haa Dzongkhag with an audience granted to members of the Multi-Sectoral Task Force – Community Based Support System (MSTF-CBSS) on 7 March.
Coinciding with the launch of the High-Level Advocacy, Bhutan joined the global community in commemorating International Women’s Day under the theme “Rights. Justice. Action. For All Women and Girls.” More than 5,000 people gathered at the public ground in Haa in the presence of Her Majesty, reaffirming the nation’s collective commitment to advancing women’s rights, gender equality, and priority public health issues.
Led by the Hon’ble Sowai Lyonpo, together with the Health Secretary, officials from the Department of Public Health also advocated on key public health priorities. The Ministry also participated in a series of informative presentations for the public on the topic ~ Sexual and Reproductive Health Right and Services, alongside other agencies and CSOs
A significant milestone of the observance was the launch of the MSTF-CBSS National Guideline, 4th Edition (2026). Developed by the Ministry of Health through the Health Promotion and Risk Communication Division under the Department of Public Health, in collaboration with RENEW and UNICEF, the guideline strengthens the framework for multi-sectoral collaboration in addressing Bhutan’s priority public health and social issues. It reinforces coordinated action from the national level to the Dzongkhag, Gewog, and Chiwog levels, ensuring stronger governance, accountability, and community engagement.
Led by Her Majesty, the High-Level Advocacy Program will continue to Samtse Dzongkhag and Phuentsholing, further strengthening community engagement and national commitment to health and social well-being.
