A Significant Milestone in Bhutan's Journey Towards a Malaria-Free Future

The Ministry of Health officially launched the two key publications: National Strategic Plan for Prevention of Re-establishment of Malaria (NSP PoR) 2026–2030 and the Bhutan Malaria Elimination Report. This marks a significant milestone in Bhutan’s remarkable journey towards malaria elimination and the sustained prevention of its re-establishment.

The launch was graced by the Health Secretary, Ministry of Health, with the WHO Representative to Bhutan, executives from various departments of the Ministry of Health, and representatives from partner organizations and stakeholders in attendance.

The NSP PoR 2026–2030 provides a strategic roadmap to safeguard Bhutan’s malaria-free status through strengthened surveillance, preparedness, timely response, cross-border collaboration and sustained commitment from all sectors.
The Bhutan Malaria Elimination Report captures the country’s remarkable journey towards malaria elimination, documenting the collective efforts, achievements and lessons from Bhutan’s journey towards malaria elimination.

This milestone is a reflection of the dedication of our health workers, communities, partners and stakeholders whose sustained efforts have made this achievement possible.
