
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with UNICEF convened the 1st National Consultation Workshop to Formulate the National Lead Poisoning Prevention Strategy on 12 August 2025 in Thimphu.
The workshop brought together more than 30 participants from over 15 government agencies, academia, civil society organizations, private sectors and development partners to discuss the public health threats posed by lead exposure.
Participants reviewed findings from the National Blood Lead Level Survey 2024 and other gaps. The discussions focused on formulating a comprehensive strategy and action plan with an emphasis on public awareness, policy enforcement, and intersectoral collaboration.
This first consultation marks a critical step towards a coordinated, evidence-based national response to eliminate lead poisoning and protect the health and well-being of future generations.
