The Director of Public Health (DoPH), Ministry of Health, officially launched the Diploma in Medical Laboratory and Entomology at the VDCP office in Gelephu. The event was graced by the Dean and faculty members from the Faculty of Nursing and Public Health (KGUMSB), the Hospital Lam, DPHO Sarpang, and other esteemed guests. Five pioneering students were enrolled to mark the inaugural cohort of this important program. These students have already completed two years of training in the Medical Laboratory at FoNPH and will complete their final year at VDCP office, Gelephu.

In his address, the Director highlighted that this launch marks a significant step forward in building a capable and competent health workforce in Bhutan to effectively combat malaria and other vector-borne diseases. He also reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to nurturing skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory and Entomology Technicians who will play a key role in safeguarding the nation’s health and personally extended his best wishes to the five students embarking on this important journey.
