July 6, 2026: The Ministry of Health is pleased to congratulate Drg. Ugyen Wangchuk, who officially assumes office as the first Specialist Head of the National Center for Traditional Medicine Services (NCTMS).
Before this appointment, Drg. Ugyen Wangchuk served as a Specialist at the National Traditional Medicine Hospital (NTMH) and as the Head of the Laynga Department. In 2018, he led the establishment of Laynga (Eliminative Therapy) inpatient services at NTMH, marking a significant milestone in strengthening specialized Traditional Medicine services in Bhutan.
With 28 years of dedicated service across the country’s healthcare system, Drg. Ugyen Wangchuk has made invaluable contributions to the advancement of Sowa Rigpa and the promotion of quality Traditional Medicine services nationwide. He holds a Master’s Degree in Traditional Medicine and Clinical Therapy from the University of Health Sciences, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
The Ministry of Health extends its heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to Drg. Ugyen Wangchuk as he takes on this historic leadership role. We wish him every success in leading NCTMS and further advancing Traditional Medicine services for the people of Bhutan.
