2 July 2026 – Mr. Jambay Dorji assumed office as the Chief Regulatory and Quarantine Officer at the Regional Office of the Bhutan Food and Drug Authority (BFDA), Paro. He was appointed through an open competitive selection process in accordance with the recruitment and selection framework of the Royal Civil Service Commission.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Dorji served as the Deputy Chief Regulatory and Quarantine Officer in the Food Quality and Safety Division under the BFDA. He also served as the Officiating Chief Laboratory Officer at the National Food Testing Laboratory, Yusipang. Mr. Dorji began his career with the BFDA in May 2005 as an Assistant Regulatory and Quarantine Officer. He holds a Master’s degree in Food Science from Wageningen University, the Netherlands.
With over two decades of professional experience, Mr. Dorji brings extensive expertise in food quality and safety management, regulation of genetically modified organisms, and laboratory management. His broad technical knowledge and leadership experience will be a valuable asset in strengthening the regulatory and biosecurity functions of the BFDA Regional Office in Paro.
