The Academic Honors Reception was held in celebration of Dr. Dechen Wangmo, the distinguished MBBS graduate who earned an exceptional nine gold medals during her medical studies at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Sri Lanka.

The honor ceremonial event hosted by the Ministry of Health at the Hon’ble Health Minister’s office in Thimphu, brought together key figures from the medical and academic institutes, including senior health officials to honor Dr. Dechen Wangmo’s incredible academic achievements. Dr. Wangmo’s nine gold medals represent her top-ranking performance across several key subjects in the MBBS curriculum.

The Hon’ble Health Minister graced the event and in his keynote remarks, Dr. Dechen Wangmo’s accomplishments serve as a source of inspiration for her peers and future medical students. On behalf of the health fraternity, the Hon’ble Minister offered standing ovation for her outstanding achievements and the dedication she has shown in her field.

The event was a memorable celebration of excellence and perseverance, highlighting not only Dr. Dechen Wangmo’s achievements but also the Ministry of Health’s commitment to recognizing and nurturing exceptional talent in the medical field.

Dr. Dechen Wanngmo hails from Tshaelshingzor, under Norbugang Gewog, Pemagatshel and she is the youngest among six siblings in the family.
