Druk Trace App Policy
General Information
The Royal Government of Bhutan built the Druk Trace app as a free app to fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
This SERVICE is provided by Ministry of Health, Royal Government of Bhutan at no cost and is intended for use as is tool to expedite contact tracing in case of local transmission in Bhutan only.
This page is used to inform visitors regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decides to use our Service.
What personal information do we collect?
To use the Druk Trace app and related services, the user will have to provide a valid Bhutanese mobile phone number. While we ask for your name, it is optional.
How does the app work?
Users can download Druk Trace app from Google Play Store for Android phones and Apple’s App Store for iOS phones. Using the app, users can then generate QR codes for public places like offices, temples, shops, restaurants, buses, and taxis. The generated QR codes needs to be printed and posted at the entrances. Anyone visiting those public places will then scan the QR codes using Druk Trace. Upon successful scan, a timestamped record linking the scanner (individual) with QR code (public place) will be saved at a secure location. In the scenario an individual is diagnosed with infection, health officials will be able to get the list of individuals who had been in the same place (scanned the same QR code) within certain time frame. The possible direct contacts can then be informed and appropriate action can be taken to bring the outbreak under control.
How do we use your information?
If you have registered to use the Druk Trace app and related services, the Ministry of Health will contact your mobile phone number if you have come in contact with a patient who tested positive for COVID-19.
Privacy
Personal details collected (phone numbers, names) of the users will not be made public and we assure that the ifnormation will be used only for the purpose mentioned in this privacy policy.
What permissions do we ask and why?
The permissions asked by the Druk Trace app and the reasons for the permissions are given below:
– Camera: This permissions allows the Druk Trace app to scan QR codes.
– Audio: This permissions allows the Druk Trace app to play notification sound on successful scan.
– Album (Photos and Video): This permissions allows the Druk Trace app to generate QR codes and store it on your phone.
– Files: This permissions allows the Druk Trace app to save and share generated QR codes
Dispute Resolution
In the event of any disputes or claims arising from using this service, it will be settled through the alternative dispute resolution in accordance with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Act of Bhutan 2013.
