The Ministry of Health welcomed Dr. Akihiko Tanaka, President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), to Genekha Primary Health Centre (PHC), where he observed the implementation of the iCTG system. Since its introduction at Genekha Primary Health Centre in October 2023, the iCTG system has transformed maternal healthcare for pregnant women in remote communities.
During the visit, health workers demonstrated how this innovative digital technology enables real-time fetal monitoring and connects frontline providers with obstetricians at higher-level health facilities for timely consultation and clinical decision-making ~ bringing safer pregnancies and quality maternal care closer to home.
This initiative reflects Bhutan’s commitment to harnessing digital health technologies to improve maternal and newborn health. It has been made possible through the strong collaboration between the Ministry of Health and JICA.
The Ministry of Health extends its sincere appreciation to JICA and all partners for their continued support in strengthening maternal and newborn health services and advancing digital health in Bhutan.
