07 September 2026: Health Minister Lyonpo Tandin Wangchuk is leading a Bhutanese delegation at the 79th Session of the WHO Regional Committee for South-East Asia (RC79), which held its inaugural session in Dili, Timor-Leste, this morning.
Over the next three days, Health Ministers and delegations from across the Region will deliberate on key priorities shaping the future of health, including universal health coverage and the health-related SDGs, ending TB and accelerating multi-disease elimination, preventing and controlling noncommunicable diseases, advancing the mental health and adolescent health agenda, strengthening emergency preparedness, and assessing the role of digital health in the Region.
Member States will also review progress on past Regional Committee resolutions and decisions.
Bhutan remains committed to working with fellow Member States and WHO to advance health for all in the Region.
