SUMMARY:The Department of Public Health\, Ministry of Health\, in collabora
 tion with the Paro Dzongkhag Health Sector and Traditional Medicine Servic
 es\, conducted a Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) awareness program in Paro
DESCRIPTION:\nThe Department of Public Health\, Ministry of Health\, in col
 laboration with the Paro Dzongkhag Health Sector and Traditional Medicine 
 Services\, conducted a Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) awareness program i
 n Paro\, engaging approximately 300 students and staff from Drugyel Higher
  Secondary School.\n\n\nThe program highlighted key modifiable risk factor
 s for NCDs\, with a strong emphasis on promoting healthy lifestyle practic
 es. Students were sensitized on lead poisoning and prevention\, the harmfu
 l effects of tobacco use\, smoking\, and e-cigarettes\, as well as excessi
 ve salt intake\, junk food consumption\, and sugar-sweetened beverages. Th
 ey were encouraged to adopt healthier behaviors from an early age to reduc
 e future health risks.\n\n\nA key highlight of the session was the active 
 participation of students in making personal pledges to avoid smoking and 
 the use of e-cigarettes\, reduce unhealthy food consumption\, and limit sa
 lt and sugar intake. They also committed to promoting healthier habits wit
 hin their families and communities. This initiative aimed to nurture youth
  champions who can drive positive behavioral change beyond the school sett
 ing.\n\n\nThe program aligns with Bhutan’s ongoing national efforts to p
 revent and control NCDs through early awareness\, community engagement\, a
 nd multi-sectoral collaboration\, contributing to a healthier and more inf
 ormed future generation.\n\n
