SUMMARY:5th National One Health Symposium
DESCRIPTION:The Ministry of Health (MoH)\, in collaboration with the Minist
 ry of Agriculture and Livestock (MoAL) and key One Health stakeholders\, s
 uccessfully hosted the 5th National One Health Symposium in Tsirang from F
 ebruary 24-26\, 2025. This landmark event brought together over 130 expert
 s\, policymakers\, researchers\, and practitioners from diverse sectors\, 
 including MoH\, MoAL\, Khesar Gyalpo University of Medical Sciences of Bhu
 tan (KGUMSB)\, Ministry of Energy and Natural Resources (MoENR)\, College 
 of Natural Resources (RUB)\, UN agencies (FAO and UNDP)\, and local govern
 ment leaders. For this symposium\, local government representatives were i
 nvited from Southern districts- Chukha\, Dagana\, Samtse\, Tsirang\, Pema 
 Gatshel (Nganglam)\, Sarpang\, Samdrup Jongkhar\, and Zhemgang\, reinforci
 ng the symposium’s commitment to multi-sectoral collaboration and grass-
 root level engagement in strengthening Bhutan’s One Health approach.\n\n
 Under the theme "Building a Resilient Future: One Health Approach at All L
 evels to Emerging Threats\," the symposium highlighted the critical role o
 f multi-stakeholder engagement in addressing emerging health challenges. T
 he event focused on enhancing awareness and participation among field-leve
 l stakeholders\, strengthening cross-sectoral collaboration\, and developi
 ng key recommendations to inform the revision of the Bhutan One Health Str
 ategy. It also aimed to reinforce coordination and partnerships across hum
 an\, animal\, and environmental health sectors for a more effective and un
 ified response to health threats.\n\nThe three-day symposium featured keyn
 ote addresses by leading experts\, along with scientific and policy presen
 tations on critical One Health challenges. Panel discussions explored zoon
 otic diseases\, antimicrobial resistance (AMR)\, pandemic preparedness\, v
 ector-borne diseases\, wildlife health\, and the impact of climate change 
 on public health. On Day 3\, interactive World Café-style sessions facili
 tated solution-driven discussions\, while networking opportunities fostere
 d knowledge exchange and collaboration among stakeholders.\n\nThe symposiu
 m concluded with actionable recommendations to strengthen national prepare
 dness and response to public health threats\, reinforcing Bhutan’s commi
 tment to the global One Health movement. By enhancing cross-sectoral colla
 boration\, the event is expected to play a crucial role in building a resi
 lient and sustainable health security system for the country.\n\nThis symp
